Community takeovers

When a creator walks away from a token, the community around it can take over the creator's side of it. A takeover redirects future creator fees and the buyback vest to whoever is actually running the project.

A takeover changes who gets paid. It does not change the token: supply, pricing, locked liquidity and the tax rate all stay exactly as they were.

Voluntary

A creator stepping away simply transfers the creator role to a community wallet with transferCreator. It takes effect as soon as the new wallet accepts.

Protocol-proposed

For tokens whose creator has vanished or lost access, the protocol owner can propose a new creator. The proposal is deliberately slow and public:

  1. proposeTakeover(token, newCreator) emits TakeoverProposed with the new address and the time it becomes executable.
  2. Nothing happens for 3 days.
  3. For the following 3 days, anyone can call executeTakeover(token).
  4. If nobody does, the proposal expires.

The owner can cancel during the wait. A creator transferring their role during the wait does not cancel the proposal, so a stolen creator key cannot dodge the recovery that was proposed precisely because it was stolen.

The app surfaces pending takeovers on the token page so holders find out before it happens, not after.

Hanok is unaudited testnet software. Tokens can lose all value.
